Emperor

When you're on the floor, dancing to this song, some how you become the emperor. Thousands of emperors dancing in the same room to the same beat, it's true. The tune is massive, wide enough to feed the entire floor. The track begs to be dropped mid set, at the peak of a multi song build releasing the energy that's been accumulated up to that point. Mid track there's a wicked filter over the sample, and everything at that point is executed perfectly. Enjoy!

Lonely Whistle Call

This song transports me to a house on a prairie where life is slow and humans live with nature instead of on top of it. The song is gentile and subtle. The two guitars strumming in each ear and their perfect harmonies along with the flute, which I've been appreciating much more these days, all merge to create a rich image. Enjoy!

Paint A Smile On Me

This song grabs my inner 70's disco groove spirt and lifts it past the sky. The irresistible combination of quick electric guitar riffs and an smooth groovy bassline complimented by dancing piano lifts hairs on the back of my neck, in a good way. Yuksuk has taken an already great song and injected even more greatness into it, as he has done successfully in the past. Careful that you don't dance your pants off. Enjoy!

Mesmerize

This multicolored journey comes across with vivid representation.  I can see a horizon time lapse speeding through this tune, or a slow motion ballet of nature instead. There's something earthy about the sounds used to compose this song, things feel natural and alive. Perhaps because I feel this is a great song to create to, that my imagery is creation. Enjoy!

Going Up

This playful jingle is the pick me up that I need today.  The sounds of this song are the embodiment of summer. The bouncy colorful synths along with upbeat percussion and topped with the infamous steel drums are undeniably summertastic. Lastly, I prefer to blast this song. Enjoy!

Desert Night

First I love his smooth and clear vocals, after that I'm hooked by the melody. This song brings the desert, and riding through it, but there's much more underneath. The build up implies more than a desert ride, this is an adventure, a journey that may not be over just yet. Enjoy!

Parents' House

This track could easily fit as my high school anthem. The amazing upbeat energy and carefree attitude captured by flashing lights, vehement jumping up and down, and a chorus you can scream along with.  Some of my favorite memories happened at my friends' houses, which really was their parents' house so there's that too. Enjoy!

Moondust

This foggy morning track brings melancholia feelings about burying love. His voice is sincere, there's pain and anguish with each word.  The synths float low over the ground, leaving the ground a bit wet, but then heavy bass comes in and fills in the foundation.  Enjoy!

BUST

The chorus of this song has been stuck in my head for like a week. At first I didn't love it, but as i found myself humming the melody while walking, biking, driving, and even in the shower I came to the realization that I do love this track.  I'm reminded of John Mayer's voice when I hear this track, especially during the verse, and well, I like John Mayer's voice so that's a plus. Enjoy!

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

This song has many elements, all of which are great. The slow hip hop inspired beginning is a unsurprising intro to what soon becomes a high energy drum and bass track. The Julie London sample from Cry Me A River perfectly fits in. The song sorta keeps you guessing, while maintaining a fluidity at the same time. Enjoy!

All Just In My Mind

This infectious track debuted on The Magicain's latest Magic Tape, and what a track it is. This song moves bodies.  The pace of the song is spot on, with an amazing bassline and equally amazing vocal sample as the cherry on top. When every sound is perfectly working together in a song like this, it's impossible to sit still. Enjoy!

Move Closer

I'm enamored with how pretty this song is. Each sound is so fragile, I'm almost tense in anticipation of everything falling to the floor and smashing. The voices fly above the clouds of piano and reverberating synths. The song is sensual but not sexy, revealing yet not weak. Enjoy!

Tired

This track is poppy with a lively dynamic. There's a cuteness in her voice, the way she sings the lyrics. Though her melancholia isn't lose in the cuteness, it's clear that she's lost some battles and is mustering the strength for what's next. I love the drums, and how the percussion multiplies the intensity of what could have easily been just a mediocre song, not a great one. But this is a great one, and I've been jammin' it. Enjoy!

Lubricates

I'm a sucker for heavy vocal filters in smokey rooms with dim red lights. This song has just that. Or maybe this song is set in a foggy dark forest with only moonlight? Either way, it's clear how I interpret the setting of this track. I really dig the poise in her voice. There's tension and emotion under pressure, but the containment is strong, and controlled. Enjoy!

Beware Of The Bird

This big song uses some pretty interesting sounds, along with a boomy bassline laying down the foundation. I like the tone of this song the most. Initially the track seems dark and agressive, but little sounds here and there provite light colors, and positivity. Enjoy!

Thinking Of You

RAC can't get enough praise for his amazing hand at remixing tracks. If I were a band, with a song, he'd be top of my list begging for a remix. But the biggest thing on this track is the hook:
"I still think of you,
and all the shit you put me through."
Delivered with this upbeat track, it tells this shitty ex that you're on your way to getting over them and it's just a bit more time till they are completely out of the picture. In your face. Enjoy!

Olivia

This song is a dream sequence for synthesizers. I love the progression of the build, starting from the first notes. I can't translate the lyrics, but the sound beautiful and exotic. Perhaps any foreign language is exotic to my ears. It is deceptively long too, the initial build of sounds takes its time and before you know it 6 mins have passed and the song isn't near ready to be over. Enjoy!

You And Me

This down-low track is deep with a hint of funk. The subtle electric guitar riff and sunken bass line hold the groove while that sample peppers the track with sexyness. The sample from Cassie's Me and You is perfectly chopped and altered, though it made me go listen to the original just to refresh my brain. Enjoy!

Keep A Light Lit

This track has the speed of a Sunday. There's a bit of a Coconut Records vibe to this track, and I also get that 2002 Rules of Attraction vibe as well. The feelings of searching hard -asking the tough questions in order to truly find yourself, while also wanting to simply enjoy the time right now and extend the moment. Enjoy!

Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See

I take my 90's rap very seriously. I cut my music-fan teeth on the stuff, and Busta Rhymes was a heavy influence to me. His verse in Scenario, to this day I have to sing along.  So I was extremely skeptical when I saw this remix. Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See is a brilliant track, with both verses holding the same end rhyme - and don't get me started on that video, and it's homage to Coming To America, another life shaping piece of art for my life.

Which brings me to this remix. I love the slowed down, heavy and slightly dirty beat to this remix. The added electronic colors are a perfect compliment to the smoky groove. Enjoy!

Home

This song is that song you hear when approaching home from a long time away. Things go in slow motion, familiar sights seem to bring back warm and comforting feelings. The colors are brighter, the air is fresher, and the smiles are everywhere. I think this atmosphere is created with the cool tones and a perfectly calculated timeline. The song is exactly 8 mins long, but seems to pass by in just a few moments. Enjoy!
