Time

"I don't have the time, and I don't have the patience" I can directly relate to that. This song has a big monster facade, and is equally as big on the vocals.  I love the opening lyrics accompanied by the piano chords. Then a tidal wave hits, and the song is put into high gear. The energy from songs like this motivate, inspire, and drive me when I need a nitro boost. Enjoy!

Not Giving In

When in need of motivational inspiration this track gets me in the mood. I love how this track runs the gamut on so many things. Drum and bass, awesome background vocals, tons of soul, and a horn section weave quite an interesting sound. I love when the first slam hits, and the drums explode out of the gate like a rocket launched from the sea. The build up let's it be known that something is coming but when it hits there's still a surprise. Enjoy!

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

This song has many elements, all of which are great. The slow hip hop inspired beginning is a unsurprising intro to what soon becomes a high energy drum and bass track. The Julie London sample from Cry Me A River perfectly fits in. The song sorta keeps you guessing, while maintaining a fluidity at the same time. Enjoy!

Belief

I went through a phase in the late 90's where all I listened to was Drum and Bass or Jungle. Years prior I was exclusively Hip Hop (which we called Rap back then). Hearing a Drum and Bass song with lyrics over it was a beautiful blend of my two favorites, and still is. This track topic is soccer aka futbol, gotta love those folks across the pond, with a bit of a Biggie sample to top it all off. Enjoy!

Vinyl Saturdays: Chicken Dinner

This track walks a line, I'm not quite sure labeling it Drum and Bass is 100% appropriate. Though, the track does have elements of D&B. I enjoy the bassline a great deal. The drums may have been programmed, but I could imagine a talented drummer playing this piece live which is impossible in most Drum and Bass songs. There is a beautiful and colorful expedition that the song travels, that I find interesting and thought provoking. Enjoy!

White Lies

I love to discover older tracks, especially when something new brings them back to the surface. It's awesome that Grafix & Fred V even said "Very cool fan made video of one of our golden oldies, check it out!" on their FB page. How fans and artists collaborate, communicate, and overall relate these days simply blows my mind. I love it. This track is hard hitting, cuts fast and aggressively, hitting hard in all the right places. Enjoy!

Retro

I dig the soul that this song brings to the table. Listen to the gentile sounds layered over a mellow drum and bass beat. The sound byte is so spot on. The artist's struggle, the process of pioneering and constant uphill battles to ultimately walk alone anyhow. I feel pain and respect for those pioneering artists just over those few sentences. Then the energy picks up, and the song is completely changed, yet still the same as a drum can be so influential. Enjoy!

Kickin' Back

Take a journey back to the late 90's with me on this one. Those bass notes, that 1990's drum and bass vibe, and what a great sample. "Kickin' back relaxing at my homie's place, chillin on a groove at a mellow pace". This is a slowed down version of what I know to be drum and bass,  which perfectly fits. Enjoy!

Whatever

More so than the theme, I appreciate the execution of this track. Don't get me wrong, "leave the 40oz, put the weed down, develop a plan" "WHATEVER", is an awesome string of words. There's times when I wish I could say whatever, and have a dirty bass drop on queue right after. The saxophone and vintage drum machine sounds date this song a bit, but I enjoy some nostalgia here and there. Enjoy!

Tripped

When the weather gets colder, the Drum and Bass music gets more playtime on my system, I have no idea why this phenomenon occurs.   This track is gradual and beautiful, there's an ordered chaos to the sound.  I specifically enjoy the droplet siren sounds that flash throughout. The track has a vintage drum and bass sound, perhaps because it is a vintage song being released in 2001 makes it a dinosaur fossil in the world of DnB. Enjoy!

So Close To Paradise

It's close to guaranteed-producer-suicide to touch an anthem, especially a classic anthem that defines and era.  But then again sometimes you face danger and come out a winner, as in this case.  I especially enjoy how the vocal sample is used by repeating and incrementally changing in tone. The song is fast and murky, bringing a range of emotions throughout its 8 minute duration. Enjoy!

Mind Rhythm

There's a telepopmusik-like sound to the vocal hook on this track, which I love. The beginning build is gradual and eloquent. There's aggressive drums and bass, yet serene keyboard keys dropping everywhere like raindrops.  Overall the song balances out quite nicely. Enjoy!

Pirate Bay

Am I speculating that the song title and the vocal sample "we will be free" have anything to do with a specific website, nope. I could search for the reported answer but what I really care about is how much I like this song. The track is an explosion of energy. It starts off giving the notion that far more is close on the way, as soon as those drums kick in you know you're about to rock. Enjoy!

Concealed Identity

Get your inner ninja ready for battle. This track takes the tempo of an old martial arts movie, from howling winds, sword clanks, and the persistent war drum. I love everything about this track, the long spaces before the strike, the vocal samples, the pace, the +9 minute length. This song is timeless drum and bass. You don't know if it was produced in the mid 90's or yesterday. Enjoy!

Jemmy Twitcher

I'm not sure what the sample of this song is, but I've been singing along "ridin'".  I love the classic drum and bass sounds near the 1:30 mark, which you can't miss.  The high energy horns along with the peppered sound effects allow this song to project a bit of light instead of being the typical 100% dark dnb track. And a special mention of the breakdown mid-track, this song begs to be played at loud volume. Enjoy!
